New Patient Information
Lee Family Chiropractic is pleased to be accepting new patients, and we’re excited for you to begin the journey to better health. Below you will find information to help you better understand what to expect from your first and successive visits to our office. Remember that each visit builds on the ones before; if you miss a visit, you risk losing the momentum needed for good results. Please contact us if you have any questions and our friendly staff would be happy to assist you.
During your consultation with the doctor you will discuss your health goals and learn how chiropractic could help you. If it looks promising, a thorough examination will help identify the cause of your problem. Patients appreciate that we explain everything up front and in simple terms.
On your second visit we report what we found and how we can help you. After having studied your health history and correlated our examination findings, we will make recommendations to help you recover and maintain your well-being.
A typical office visit may require only five to ten minutes, but that brevity doesn’t lessen its value. Because your time is valuable, we take pride in the minimal impact our treatments have on your schedule. With your assessment complete, we can quickly adjust your spine and nervous system and get you on your way.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is Chiropractic Care?
Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, as well as these disorders’ effects on general health. Chiropractic care is most often used to treat neuromusculoskeletal complaints, including but not limited to back pain, neck pain, headaches, and pain in the joints of the arms or legs.
What Is a Chiropractic Adjustment, Does it Hurt And is it Safe?
Tissue injury can be caused by a single traumatic event, such as improper lifting, or through repetitive stress, such as sitting in an awkward position with poor posture for an extended period of time. A chiropractic adjustment is very safe and painless. It restores joint mobility by applying controlled force into impacted joints, which relieves pain, reduces muscle tightness, and allows tissues to heal. Most patients look forward to their chiropractic treatments and many feel instant relief, although those receiving treatment for severe neck or back pain may experience some discomfort. There are fewer than 100 adverse reactions to chiropractic adjustments per year. You are hundreds of times more likely to suffer an adverse reaction from taking an aspirin than you are from receiving a chiropractic adjustment.
How Educated Is My Chiropractor?
Educational requirements for chiropractic doctors are among the highest of the health care professions. The typical applicant at a chiropractic college has already taken nearly four years of premedical college education, including courses in biology, chemistry, physics, and psychology. Once accepted into an accredited chiropractic college, at least four years of professional study are required. Because of the intricate and hands-on nature of chiropractic, significant portion of time is spent in clinical training. In total, the chiropractic curriculum includes a minimum of 4,200 hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical experience. The course of study is approved by an accrediting agency that is fully recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Do You Have to Keep Going Once You Start Chiropractic Care?
No, but it is important to consider that chiropractic treatment, as with other fields of medicine, is ideally lifelong. Just like a regular dentist visit is vital to healthy teeth, so too is chiropractic maintenance for the rest of the body. Is Chiropractic for Kids?
Absolutely! Children can have spinal misalignments just like adults. This can lower a child’s resistance, disposing them to illnesses such as headaches, ear infections, back pain, poor concentration, irritability, and more. A simple, painless spinal exam will allow your chiropractor to find and treat any misalignments if they are present. At Tapper Chiropractic, we welcome patients of any age!
